How to Descale Your Keurig Coffee Machine

Descale: removing the hard deposit formed by water residue

Every 3 to 6 months you should plan to descale your Keurig Coffee Maker. If you do not regularly clean your Keurig Coffee Maker it can cause poor performance. Let's work on giving your KCup machine a refresher by following the steps below.

What You Will Need

  • 1 Large Glass Mug (Avoid Plastic/Paper Cups)

  • Fresh Water

  • 1 1/2 Cups White Distilled Vinegar

How Long will it Take?

It will take approx 20 min to descale your Keurig coffee maker.

How To Descale Your Keurig Coffee Maker Prep

First, you must empty the water reservoir. If your Keurig model has a water filter please remove. Lastly you must power off your machine before getting started.

First Rinse

Fill the water reservoir with white distilled vinegar & fresh water until you reach the maximum fill line. Power the Keurig Coffee Machine back on and place your large glass mug on to the drip tray. Lift and lower the handle to activate brew. You will not need a K Cup inserted. Select a 10oz brew and allow the mug to fill. Dispose of the Mug's liquid into the sink.

Second Rinse

Please repeat the process above until the machine indicates it needs more water. After this is completed let the brewer soak for 10 minutes while powered on. After 10 minutes rid the water reservoir of scale and build up by rinsing in the sink.

Final Rinse

Fill the water reservoir with fresh water to the max fill line. Place your mug on to the drip tray. Without inserting a K Cup run a brew for the largest size. Pour the contents into the sink and repeat until all water is used.

There you have it! You can now ensure that you are drinking the freshest cup.
